The Bergen County Zoo is all about the amazing wildlife, educating those who visit on the creatures of the world, and conservation! Are you excited to hear all about the animals that you can see during your WILD family day out?
How about coming face to face with the grand mountain lion, or seeing those unique American Bison up close? There are playful primates including the spider monkey and tamarin, or you can watch the sloth sleep!
From the small prairie dogs, to the large American Elk, Bergen County Zoo has creatures great and small ready to say hi. You might even learn about creatures you had no idea existed! Have you ever heard of the coati or the guanaco? Now is your chance to learn!
As well as the mammals, the zoo is also home to a host of colorful birds, alligators, turtles, snakes, and lizards too.
Did you know that the Bergen County Zoo isn't just animals? Nope! From mid-April to mid-November they also have a fun carousel and exciting train rides for those little ones, and seasonal pony rides too!
Make sure you visit the Education / Discovery center during your time at Bergen County Zoo too, Here, kids can explore a number of hands-on activities, as well as numerous live animal exhibits! The center also have a mini-theater that screens wildlife videos as well as feature films, all shown daily. It's a great additional learning experience for the kids!
Throughout the year, there are live animal presentation in the zoo's outdoor amphitheater, included in the admission so make sure you check the times on the day you go!

It's not just the animals that need feeding! Mobile carts offering a variety of food and drinks are available at the zoo entry plaza, as well as just outside the zoo entrance.
In July and August, live animal shows are held daily in their outdoor amphitheater, which is located behind the Tamarin Exhibit. Shows are FREE with zoo admission, and seating is first-come, first-served. Daily shows with time frames can be seen as you enter the zoo.
The General Store is located in the zoo’s entry plaza, just inside the zoo gate and the perfect place to pick up gifts and animal-tastic souvenirs!
It's a great learning experience for the kids! The zoo offer a wide variety of programs that you can enjoy at the zoo, or the zoo can come to you! They also have a Zoo Camp during the summer months.
Service animals are allowed.
The pony rides operate April to October, and the train & carousel operate mid-April to mid-November (approx). These have small additional costs
