If there is ever a need to take the kids to a place that can not only educate, but inspire, then Helen Keller's Birthplace might just be that place.
Helen Keller's Birthplace is a historic home dating back to 1820. Kids, want to put this in perspective? This is only one year AFTER Alabama became the 22nd State of the Union. Pretty amazing!
The home is called Ivy Green, and is a beautiful cottage with four large rooms on the first floor, and three on the top floor.
Helen Keller was an amazing woman, who was deaf and blind, and mastered the art of braille. She grew to learn to use a typewriter, and even graduated from Radcliffe College. She dedicated her life to improving the conditions of those who were also born deaf and blind, and now is known as the "Miracle Worker"
So you see kids - you can achieve anything, no matter what!
A trip to the Helen Keller Birthplace is a great example of that, and can inspire kids to really be the best they can be.
The house is filled with memorabilia and information about Helen Keller, so kids can learn all about history, and the woman herself, during this fascinating day out.
There are also grounds, gardens and external architecture to enjoy.
An amazing day out in Alabama!
